Not a New Year’s Resolution…

This project is not the product of a New Year’s resolution. It just happens to be getting launched now because the couple of weeks I take off at the end of the year afford me some time to focus on personal work.

I’m bad at documenting process. I’ll write code or research an obscure subject until I can’t see anymore. But, as for taking a moment to record who, what, why, when, or how, forget it…

As a result, this project (and most things associated with it) are a year or more overdue. The last time I thought about it in earnest, I got sidetracked researching and tinkering with a blog-aware, static site generator. Then, development work, a new apartment and neighborhood, and fatherhood set in to consume the better part of a year.

I did start keeping a development journal last year. Things I think are useful may end up here from time to time. Some entries definitely saved me from having to relearn some piece of ephemera. Maybe some entry will do the same for you.

I read when I can, write too many emails and not enough code, think about making things more than I actually make them. Maybe keeping a public record of these processes will correct some of these behaviors. Maybe not. We’ll see won’t we?
